Spring in England 2014/ Upcoming Tutorials
I was speaking with a friend of mine the other day and she was asking me how I got the blue tint on my photographs without using Photoshop. She seemed very surprised that the prints on watercolor paper had more of a painterly look to them then a photographic quality. She herself is not a photographer but loves learning craft and art. I explained to her that the process that I used was a fairly simple photography process called, cyanotypes. Its a very classic, and non toxic process, that anyone can learn. She asked me if I could teach her and some of her other friends. It gave me the idea that it would actually benefit others, like her, who were interested in learning the process, if I did a tutorial on it.
So I would like to announce the coming of a series of short, hands on tutorials, to be shot here in England, during my stay. These tutorials will be aired end of Spring, early Summer on simple, classic and experimental photography process.
Check back here for updates and sneak peeks on the upcoming tutorials.

Late 2011, early 2012 an unjust decision was made against photographer and educator Allan Barnes, when he was dismissed from the Santa Monica Institution that he taught in. For more information on the story click here http://santamonica.patch.com/topics/Allan+Barnes
NBC recently picked up the controversy and did a story on Barnes and artists/ photographers rights. http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/Teacher-Dismissed-Over-Nude-Photos-141684623.html Ironically, NBC stole a source photograph of Barnes, taken by Rowynn Dumont without credit, payment or permission.
The image was taken from the source http://thestudiochronicle.blogspot.com/2010/09/journey-beyond-artists-studio-allan.html Which clearly states the photo credit.
So what happened to artist rights?

Sub-Alterity is a touring exhibition of underground art, concept-driven and featuring eleven unique, visionary artists from Los Angeles, Long Beach, and abroad. The paintings, installations, and multi-media presentations collectively and independently express the contradictory, boundary-shattering urban[organic] consciousness.
Collectors, businesses, and art connoisseurs are invited to view, discuss, and purchase the works presented at Sub-Alterity. There will be refreshments provided by local sponsors, music from area musicians and DJs as well as installations and performances over the days of the event, to be announced as further artists sign on.
2nd City Council Art Gallery + Performance Space is a bright and area facility housed in a former tin shop in the Long Beach East Village Arts District, across the street from the Museum of Latin American Art (MoLAA). 2cc is a non-profit gallery established to support the arts and local culture development through education and expression.
The Mezz in Downtown Los Angeles occupied the second story ballroom of the historic Alexandria, overlooking Gallery Row, which illuminates the entire downtown area with artists and enthusiasts the second Thursday of every month. Complete with Victorian decorative fixtures, a stage, and full bar, this place redefines classy with a dark, artsy, thoroughly underground (though it is above ground) vibe.
